Re: Combat Stick

I'm looking up grip-wrap options to cover that camo EVA...why do they do this to us? :)

Re: Anyone try the 13 Fishing Creed GT spinning reel?

I might give it a test run if they cost 30 bucks.

For a C note, Shimano Nasci and Daiwa BG are the obvious choices imo.

Re: Need a large bait reel

I'm looking for a swimbait/a-rig reel. Going to be going on my Lucky Craft 7'6" XH XF rod. Not the perfect rod for moving baits, I agree, but it's what I have at the moment and I am planning to use straight 20 lb. mono, so that should help make up for some of the rod's stiffness. Probably goin...

Good decision!

Use imgur.com

No need to create an account. Just click and drag photos onto the page, and then copy/paste the image link here, using the "Img" function above the text box.

Of the ones I've owned, Zodias and Cronos in that price range.

I just put two and two together and recognized you from your youtube videos. Congrats on the new yak! Looking forward to seeing new footage...I love my i-series Hobie, but that PDL looks like the ideal flats yak to me!

Re: Rod sensitivity subjective?

You will run into an issue with this. Once a company adds a handle, guides and paints the blank, it complete changes the sensativity. I remember when listing the type of graphite was all the rage a few years ago. Problem was when you used two different rods with the same listed material, they felt ...

Re: Rod sensitivity subjective?

You're still taking the human element out of the equation, which renders this approach moot. Why does it matter? Consider the current paradigm: companies just claim their rods are the most sensitive. According to what? Weight and length are both objective measures, but can be rendered subjective to...

Re: Rod sensitivity subjective?

Okay. So who's doing the testing? Anyone can do it, as long as they show the methodology. I'd say TT is the natural choice, but they may or may not want to deal with the aftermath... The results can then be interpreted/debated by people on the internets, just like we do now with every other aspect ...

Re: Rod sensitivity subjective?

At the end of the day, what justifies say a hundred dollar jump in price? 5% increase in sensitivity. 10%? Do the tests and let the market sort it out. More information is always better imo. Pair the sensitivity numbers to rod strength numbers, and you have something to think about when you're orde...

Re: New Shimano plastic levelwind shaft and pawl?

Personal attacks and accusations aside, this entire thread is much ado about nothing imo. Guy buys a reel, likes the reel, opens the reel, discovers a plastic pawl and loses his mind...meanwhile, never fished the reel, sells it, continues to bash Shimano and its rep on the forum. Can't point to any ...

Re: Chronarch MGL

It's weird that they would change the alloy in their aluminum for the spools. All my non Xship Shimanos have no issue with spool corrosion, including Cores and Chonarch Mg. Since the newer reels have been out, the spools have had this problem. My '13 Met spool doesn't corrode as bad as the CI4, but...

Re: Rod sensitivity subjective?

Imo sensitivity varies to such an extent from person to person that it renders the difference between higher end rods almost moot. It only matters if you're dialed in. I've fished on party boats where I'm having zero issues sounding bottom and catching fish with 1/2 oz jigs...and the guy next to me ...
