Re: New GLX 782C MBR

I've never fished the original. I bought it for jerk baits, which I have always fished on spinning gear before.

New GLX 782C MBR

My new GLX 782C MBR arrived from American Legacy today. That puppy is light! It feels like a wand.

Of course, it was cold and spitting snow here all day.

Re: First round reel

100DC doesn't seem to be available anymore, which may indicate a new one coming out next year. I can't speak about the new Calcutta's, but I own several old Calcuttas and Conquests, in regular and DC versions. JPangler.com still has 50 Conquest DCs listed on its website, and at a much better price ...

Grabbed a Wal-Mart bargain

Walked into a local Wal-Mart last night and saw that fishing tackle had finally gone on clearance. I picked up a few lures at an OK price and found three Yumbrellas for $7 (regularly $10-something). Then, on the other side of the display, I found four Mann's "Original" A-rigs, regularly $2...

Re: Rod for light (1/64th ounce) jigs

Marabou jigs tied on 1/64th-ounce jig heads. Standard fare for Missouri trout. Not much weight there to load up a rod, so you kind of have to shoot the jig so that line peels easily off the reel. At the end of the cast, your spinning rod should point directly at the spot where your jig will (hopeful...

Re: Rod for light (1/64th ounce) jigs

Thanks for the tip. I just looked at that at Rakuten. Wish I could make sense of the translated comment there. :) Haven't bought a new rod, yet. Too caught up with bass fishing. In the middle of the U.S., we've had two straight weeks of temperatures in the 60s and 70s. April weather. I have bass rea...

Re: New Forum & Consolidation - Classifieds

I'm disappointed that Hot Deals got stuffed inside another folder. I drop by TT several times every day, and the first thing I look for is a new posting on Hot Deals. I like it when that's the first thing that can catch my eye as I look down the forum page. :(

Re: Rod for light (1/64th ounce) jigs

I'm using tied marabou jigs on Trilene XL. I can shoot a single jig maybe 30 or 40 feet with the noodle-curve St. Croix--farther, if there's a wind to my back. I think the rod's moderate action dampens the energy I can transmit into the cast. I like to work the jig with a constant, subtle twitching ...

Rod for light (1/64th ounce) jigs

I'm looking for an ultralight rod for casting a single, 1/64th-ounce jig on 2#-test mono line. The rod should be short, in the 4.5- to 5.5-foot range, and fast or (better) extra-fast action. I want the marabou tail on a jig to bounce with every blood pulse in my fingertip, and I want to feel it when...

2016 Antares DC owners, verdict?

If you have fished with the new Antares DC, what is your opinion so far? With the dollar getting stronger against the yen nearly every day, this is becoming a pretty good time to buy one. Also, the DC weighs the same as the 2015 Calcutta 100, 220 grams. The Calcutta has 12 bearings, the Antares 10. ...

Re: Any love for the NRX 853c and 854c

Likewise. I have an 852C and an 853C, and I love both of them for lighter baits. I'm buying an 894C this fall for mid-weight jigs.

If they are seeking sensitivity, why break relatively short rods into two pieces?

Re: Shimano Re-Ignites Their Shining Star : The 2015 Aldebar

Shouldn't the MSRP read $429 rather than $329?
