Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Those spools from Studio Of MoMo are pretty nice. I've got the Black Max 3 spool. There are links on page 26.

Got my non ported black spool today for my CT.

Impressions on the spool and shaft themselves are good quality.

However the inductor carrier which is plastic and has "one" clip holding it to the shaft it clips into the spool via the finest clip ever!!!

Comfortably holds 75m of 8lb braid.

Yet to give it a good casting session however time will tell within corrosion resistance etc.

Ill try to get some pics up when i get the laptop up.

Got to play with the Black Max 3 with DIY spool on the Teton 662L. Couldn't catch anything of any size on power presentations so I busted out the budget UL casting combo and started burning an 1/8 trap over some curly pond weed beds at the local state park pond. Caught a crap ton of dinks on it to get the skunk off it. The spool casts pretty well. It is not as distance orientated as the Haibo Smart but is much better controlled and can do 1/8 and under better than the Smart. The pixy with DIY on the Leadership 762L will send a ned rig into low earth orbit.

Have you tried contacting the seller to see if they can locate the package?

I won't worry ordering stuff from aliexpress. If the package didn't arrive within period given, just OPEN DISPUTE and tell Aliexpress the package did not receive. Aliexpress will refund 100% money back within a week

I have the same rod, it says fast taper but in my hands it feels like a regular taper. A lot of the length is in the handle. But for the price it's a nice rod with excellent build quality.

Contact the seller and ask for the option of being given a refund if it isn't there by the end of the week. That, or get them to send another spool via EMS this time to make up for the inconvenience.

Thanks for all suggestions.

Seller did take photo of the package and sent to me when he shipped it.

If it's not coming before deadline, will open a ticket for refund. 8-[ 8-[ 8-[

I just checked the detail tracking on AliExpress, it stopped updating tracking info after leaving China on 03.15.

Once you open the ticket, give the seller the option to ship another one EMS Rather than a refund as your first option. I did this and the seller agreed, both of us thought the package had gotten lost. He actually forgot to send it EMS the second time but it arrived much quicker. AND, the original one showed up a week after that one. When I told the seller about it, he told me to just keep them both.

Tracking updates stop once it's in the air and out of China. It's a waiting and guessing game after that point...
