Today I think the best all around Daiwa would be the 21 zillion. Size, weight, cost to performance and being able to use all the oldie but goodie spools. And it's a Daiwa that's easy to get parts for and customize. All equals a winner in my book.

I’ve not owned a bfs rod that short. I had a custom 6’1” rod built off a phenix mirage trout blank and that one was a riot with just about anything on the end of the line. I’ve had my share of MC rods and love them all.

I will agree wholeheartedly that bfs is an addiction within an addiction and to get a taste of it you need to do it correctly. The rod is just as important as the reel with bfs. A true bfs reel with a rod that can't load with the light lures will just end up with you in frustration and saying "I don...
