Re: Casting Ned Rig rod
Threw a bunch of dropshot on the Finesse Game Special and it did it very well. 3/16oz in 30 feet of water, no problem! Really loving this rod, and it does those 3/16oz Ned’s just as well. Good at controlling feisty spotted bass and keeping them pinned, even though it has that x-fast action. Just ou...

There’s probably a reason FFS both stands for “Forward Facing Sonar” and “For damn it’s Sake!”

Re: why chartreuse?
According to some studies, bass sees chartreuse as white. I don't know if it's true or not. If that's true, what's a good reason to use chartreuse, instead of white. :D Correct. I’ve posted this study before: https://academic.oup.com/cz/article/65/1/43/4924236 Bass can’t really distinguish between ...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
There is no comparison between an 852 and the S68MH, it is significantly more powerful and yes it could easily fish a 3/8 jig, T-rig plastic, or hollow body frog in moderate to heavy cover. Thanks, this rod is now on my radar! I've been trying to balance out my casting and spinning setup to rest my...

Re: Okuma X-series
Anybody try these? The T1100g incorporated into the blank,at that price point, has me intrigued. TW is claiming Toray 46T. It sounds good, but I know it's all about the resin recipe. Yep. Getting hyped about the carbon fiber used in a blank is like people saying "That band must be awesome, they're ...

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
I don’t think so regarding the S68MH. I think that generally to the Japanese angler population the S68MH style spinning rods are primarily used for their cover shooting and/or hanging techniques. It’s a much more crisp and stouter spinning rod than most people are used to, it’s a decent step up fro...

Re: Midway USA Shimano mystery box
There's no guarantee on how much of that $500 value is tackle and how much of it is the reel. So I'd be wary, I wouldn't want to spend over 300 bucks on a $250 reel and assorted tackle...

Re: Casting Ned Rig rod
For what it's worth, I've been able to fish the Steez AGS "Finesse Game Special" a bit recently and it is indeed a great casting finesse rod. I didn't have any issues maintaining bottom contact with 1/8oz heads + worm in 18 feet of water, but on deep offshore spots (22-25 feet) I'll go to a 3/16oz ...

Re: Looking for Telescopic Bass Rod
The Daiwa B.B.B. is available in 6-6 and 6-10 models. They are under $200, if you can find them. I've seem them on ebay and Amazon in the past. Aliexpress would be another option for something cheaper, but still decent quality. I got a 66MLF 2 pc spinning rod from there recently that was way above ...

Re: FG finish help
Same as dennis_rf for me, I used a dab of super glue to finish it up. FG knot, 4 half hitches, rizzuto with 5 or 6 loops, small amount of super glue to hold the cut off line in place (doesn't touch the actual FG knot, it's just on the hitches/rizzuto part of the knot. Rizzuto often holds well (hours...

Looking for Telescopic Bass Rod
I'm looking for a decent telescopic bass rod for my son to take on his bike/in his backpack. Under $100, heavy duty pond fishing, but ideally it's a serviceable bass rod (Medium power, probably). Does anybody have any leads on these? I can find cheap and dubious Chinese offerings on Amazon, I used t...

Re: Shorter MH/H
Not-Bronzefly, but I love the Super Destroyer for wobbleheads. Such a perfect taper and power for “speed jigging”. I’d throw big spinnerbaits on it, too. And it’s a great rod for vertically fishing big flutter spoons. I’d do light-cover frogging on it if a short rod isn’t a concern, but I like runni...

Re: ML bottom contact rod recommedation
In the Expride price range (around $300) I'd go with a Trika 6x ML over an Expride any day.
6'10" or 7'0" both work, and the 6'10" M is a great (not over-powered) finesse jig rod, as well.
