Re: Ultralight Tools and Hardware
I bought a bunch of these over summer, they were 77 cents each at the time. They're nearly identical to the Smith Split Ring Pincette. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32568046 ... pt=glo2usa

My latest build, now I'm kinda broke!
I slapped this one together for fishing small crankbaits, retained the factory 5.3 gears as they are about perfect for that. This is a mix of Simon Shimomura parts (Gokigen clutch, frame, handle, star wheel, spool cap), Avail (2540R spool, line guide, driveshaft, pressure plate), and Valleyhill (2BB...

Re: St Croix Seviin reels
I believe they are a board sponsor.. I pointed out that they would have been better to go with an aluminum frame and charge a bit more because a reel like the Shimano SLX blows it out of the water by design at the same price point.... that didn't go over well lol I'm on a lot of forums, fishing rel...

Re: St Croix Seviin reels
You may want to lighten up a little bit on the Banax thing. Some of the lower line Daiwa stuff were Banax. On the other note, it's a pretty low thing to trumpet virtues of a company who are lining pockets. I have no issues with Banax, where my issue sits is the claim made that St Croix developed an...

Re: St Croix Seviin reels
On another forum this reel is being pimped HARD. The admin of the site is making the dubious claim that St. Croix designed the reel and owns the tooling, even though it's a Chinese OEM reel like everything else Banax. Those of us that know better were quick to point out that it's a Banax with a dif...

Re: 2024 Releases/Rumors
I wonder if we will see a new Millionaire. The CT SV has been out of stock in most of the usual shops for a bit now.

Re: It’s 2018, why are you buying reels from the past
Old reels are my jam, especially those pre-Pure Fishing ABUs like the Cardinal and Ambassadeur. They're the Ford Straight 6 of fishing reels. They seemingly last forever and withstand repeated abuse. Their simplicity is unlike any other reel with the ability to service in the field if need be. Sure ...

Re: Minimum parts needed to tune an Abu 1500c to be BFS?
All 4 of mine are easier to cast and do cast further than my Conquest BFS and Millionaire CT, even with the factory centrifugal brake. That is interesting. From my previous experience those old school reels with non-disenganged levelwind are not very good reel for bfs as the mechanism itself added ...

Re: Minimum parts needed to tune an Abu 1500c to be BFS?
The parts you should start with in order; spool, bearings, line guide, level wind, idler gear, driveshaft, and pinion bearing. If you want to go deeper, then get the gears, frame, and brake plate. The faster gears are nice but keep in mind you will lose maximum drag capabilities, so if you like to f...

Re: Trout Starter Set
Glad to be of assistance, she came out beautiful. Try both the mag and centrifugal brake and see what you like best. I really love the centrifugal for as primitive as it may seem. It's very effective and the reel will do exactly what I ask of it every time; bomb casting, pitching, etc are all great ...
