So now my question is, is it necessarily good that they're able to see it clearer?
It totally depends on the situation/condition like water clarity, fishing pressure, weather, and everything else.

Re: Rapala DT Flat vs OG or any other Flat Sided Crankbait?

Oh yeah after reading again you are after a replacement for the DT Flat 3 but have both the 3 and 7? For just the Flat 3 I would recommend the shallow Flat A, OG tiny 4, OG slim 6 and Fritts Side 5. The Flat A will be the cheapest and most expendable but it does rattle with the weight transfer syst...

Re: Finesse/BFS reel for distance casting?

Also, "15 lb braid" is a broad statement. I was talking about Daiwa J Braid Grand 8x. That's my #1 choice at the moment, after used 55lbs Daiwa Samurai for about 15 years. According to the specs, 30lbs Berkley x9 (which I also like) is thinner than 20lbs Daiwa J Braid Grand 8x, but I feel the Daiwa...

Re: Finesse/BFS reel for distance casting?

Should have done it sooner then I would have had more time to use it. FWIW, this Gekkabijin/spool combo reminds me of the USDM Pixy Type R with more speed, better casting and drag, and more/smoother cranking power. Yeah, I think I know what you're saying. Gekkahabijin definitely has, how do I descr...

I received a Ray's BFS SV deep spool for my Gekkabijin this past Monday and have put it to the test a couple of times.
I have a feeling eventually, I'll buy the deep spool. Thanks for the info.

The Flat As are cheap and have a tight wiggle but that pointed bill makes them more prone to getting wedged in rip rap. They are more buoyant which helps them back out faster but you will lose some. They are cheap and the hardware is good enough out of the package.
Thanks for the info. :D

Re: why chartreuse?

I believe most color patterns are for the anglers. How confident you are In a lure changes how you present the bait as well as some other factors such as fall rate and sound/vibration. But colors to fish are relegated to a few colors on the spectrum. That being said some colors do matter and IMHO t...

Re: why chartreuse?

So do they see white as chartreuse? Exactly! BTW, I have a Deps Pulse Cod popper, and it has a little chartreuse around the front hook hanger. The belly is slightly transparent white with the little chartreuse spot. If the chartreuse is white, what would be the point to have the little ...

Re: Rapala DT Flat vs OG or any other Flat Sided Crankbait?

I received two Strike King flat sided and a Rapala yesterday. I fished this morning, and didn't get a bite on crankbaits, and lost one of the brand new ones in a tree. ](*,) I'll buy the Berkley one next. I was about to order a Bagley, but I didn't. I'll probably buy it soon. I didn't know about the...

Re: why chartreuse?

According to some studies, bass sees chartreuse as white. I don't know if it's true or not. If that's true, what's a good reason to use chartreuse, instead of white. :D

Re: Best Topwater Lure of the Year, 2023

Did best with the Shimano World Pop this year. It's a fantastic popper. Casts like a bullet, spits a lot of water, chugs and pops, consistent, flash boost. I think I might even like it better than my OSP Louder. I just watched a few YouTube videos of the Shimano World Pop. It looks and moves pretty...

Re: Manns Baby 1 minus

I think I got my first one around 92 or 93. It worked very well. I caught a few fish with it this year, too.

I've heard those old ones I have are very different from the newer ones. I saw pictures, and the shapes are different.

Re: Best Topwater Lure of the Year, 2023

I fished this morning around 6:45. Started with PJ Pop, and got a bite right away, but didn't catch the fish. Then, no bite for 2hrs. I've tried jerkbaits, crankbaits, free rig, jika rig..... Nothing. So, I put the PJ Pop back around 9AM. I casted it parallel to a riprap bank, just outside of the st...

Re: Best Topwater Lure of the Year, 2023

I've had a lot of fun and caught a lot of fish on the new 2023 Megabass Baby Pop-X BFS. Big bluegill, largemouth, smallmouth, and spots have all eaten it. Paired up with the P5 Pop-X Stick and the 23 Conquest BFS, loads of fun! Interesting. Pop X is already super tiny, and I assume Pop X BFS is eve...

Re: Best Topwater Lure of the Year, 2023

The Shimano popper is the one I want to try, but I have, just because I have too many poppers. I'll try it next year.

BTW, the new poppers that I bought this year, and I didn't really like were PH Custom and Duo Realis. I should have bought the Shimano, instead.
