Shimano is the Michael Jordan of fishing rod styling, and everyone wants to 'be like Mike'. Heck even Sedition copied the Monoque.
They also have realized they cost less for productions and make them look more expensive.

Run one of those precision carving knives around the rings to see if you hear a "tick"

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods

I've been fishing the Real Control S68MH for a few trips now, and while I like it, personally I'm not blown away. It feels like a textbook case of going too stiff and rigid on a supposedly super high-end rod, at the expense of enjoyment/castability/versatility. Supposedly the whole RC series is des...

Can't go wrong with costa 580g. Maui's hawaii lava are really nice, didn't care for their grey though.

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods

Just want to clarify one thing, hvf/svf/compile-x are not blank material, those are daiwa terms for blank manufacturing process. Since they don't state what materials are used, it could be that same materials are being used for hvf to compile-x. Not saying it's a fact but it could.

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods

Does Daiwa use T1100G in these rods, much like with other SVF Compile-X Nanoplus blanks? Daiwa has never stated that they use T1100G in any of nanoplus blanks Not true. All of my Morethan Branzino Ex AGS rods came with T1100G tag. To be clear, there is a difference between just "nanoplus" and "Comp...

Re: Alphas CT SV 70 - Finesse Cranking

What do you mean by no gear replacement? Parts for that specific reel come from Japan, because it is a JDM model. Plus, those gears are specific to the Alphas CT and Millionaire CT, so no compatibility with any other reel Daiwa ever made. Pretty sure the parts are now obsolete for those 2, meaning ...

Re: Alphas CT SV 70 - Finesse Cranking

I worry the same about having a 7.2 Millionaire CT (no gear replacement). I agree with everything about the light casting abilities, a ML rod with 8lb fluoro lets mine shine. I use it for lighter techniques and keep a looser drag, so hopefully the gears will survive a while in that aluminum frame.....

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods

Any more reviews on these? Especially interested in the casting rod. Thx What more do you need to know? That it's so expensive it's so good, it's a must have? Well it's kind of what it's advertised to be, long sharp soild tip heavy class rod. For how light it is, it feels pretty powerful and ...
