Re: TD-Z Owners Guild
Does the newer ported TD Zillion Ray's spool fish similar to the old non-ported one that I have? I don't like ported spools, but I almost bought one when I bought a PE long cast spool lately. Like most people, I love the old non-ported Ray's TD Zillion spool.
Re: GeeCrack
I couldn’t get over the sweaty dirty sock smell. They work, but not so well that I will put up with something that nasty.  I'll probably never spend $10 on a pack of plastics, but do they really smell that bad? They definitely have a strong odour to them. I don't find they smell like sw...

Re: Who even buys Quantum reels these days?
I have won a few Quantum baitcasters in tournaments over the years. I also tuned quite a few when I worked in a shop. They do okay. I'm a Daiwa guy, but my son's do fine when I give them the Quantums. I can't turn my back on them though, because they try to pick up my Daiwa's :D I was fixing a backl...

Re: Bass fishing versatility: stubbornness vs confidence
A very interesting topic. I'm pretty limited, and I'm happy with that. For example, for about 6 years from the late 90s to mid 2000s, I used ONLY topwater baits, mostly poppers and walkers, which are my confidence baits to this day. And, it was fun. In early 90s for 3 or 4 years, I threw jerkbaits ...

Re: Help diagnosing SV 103 issues
Make sure that your spool and all other bearings are lubed. I use Alchemy Oil Medium Light on all of my SV103 spool bearings and I get good distance with control. They are great for skipping. If you aren't cleaning and lubing your reels regularly, they will feel over-braked and not feel smooth. All ...

Re: Bass fishing versatility: stubbornness vs confidence
There are so many factors that come into play. Sometimes you know the lake and the conditions well enough to force something that you have complete confidence in. This tends to be more effective when the bite is tough for everyone, and one fish can make or break your tournament results. Versatility ...

Re: Casting Ned Rig rod
I've got a Point Blank 69MLXF that is a lot of fun with a 1/10 ounce head and 3" Ned Roboworm. I'm casting to docks, rocks and shallow targets a lot of the time. I use an Alphas reel and 6-8lb Sniper. I step up to a 1/8 ounce head when I am fishing a little deeper. Anything deeper than 15 feet and I...

Re: Happy Birthday to me!
Nice! I used to take my birthday off to fish, but my oldest son was born on the same day of the year. The day is now all about him. He is a good stick, but he would rather do other things
I will be going fishing again on our birthday when he is off to college.

It was 102 degrees with 50% humidity at 10 p.m. last night when I was fishing the full moon!!!Fishing4Fun wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 7:35 am
It has been hot as balls here lately. Like 95-105 with insanely miserable heat indexes.

Re: City/Urban Ponds
Current or water movement is the key with tiny ponds. When you have it, you will usually have better forage and fishing. Find what the main forage is and go from there. I've been fishing city ponds and golf course lakes for over four decades. There is so much info out on the internet now that it's g...

Re: Non marring tool option for handle nuts etc …
I thought I remember hearing on here ages ago that you can use a thin plastic bag between your wrench or socket to prevent marring. I've never done it though.
Re: Shoes?
You will see soft-soled running shoes dominating at the pro level. A lot of Cloud Nova's lately. They make a huge difference when you spend all day on your feet. The old days of wearing flip flops when I was young are long gone. I have Teva's with a really thick and soft sole that I will wear if it ...

Re: Bladed jig helicoptering
Do you have line twist before the cast? A crooked trailer will cause this. Also, the split ring style bladed jigs tend to twist more based on a few that I tried. I don't ever remember having helicopter issues with a bladed jig, and I throw my own custom version a ton.
