it's all messed up.
thankfully rod technology has not improved (at least not much) in the last five to eight years. Stocked up on 50+ setups prior to 2018...reels have improved (marginally) but rods, not so much.
prices today are insane.
I'm in Canada as well.

Re: Is There A Way to Make A Standard Baitcast Spool To A Shallow Spool?
it would be interesting for bass fisherman to understand reels aren't made for single species. I've lost count on the number of times I've gotten into (what would have been) backing (if I had backing). There are many species of freshwater fish that pull drag, and require more than 50 yards (lol) of ...

Re: Loomis NRX users: please help a guy out...
I wouldn't care if they were pink and my reels were green.
looks and aesthetics is for tackle tour.
the fish don't know.
It's amazing how Gussy won the classic with those poorly wrapped NRX's.

imagine not being able to fish a rod or a reel because of the "look" of it.

Re: What line do you crank with?
I use 10 to 20# braid, depending on the size of the crankbait. Most times, I tie directly with no leader. Ive fished side-by-side with guys that were using flouro or mono and I've not been significantly out-fished, except for once, where the guy was just a better fisherman than me.  ...

Re: What line do you crank with?
buy the one that sells in bulk.
i pick up 2000 yard spools of 20lbs and 30lbs power pro braid.
it fills 40+ of my multi species setups.

Re: Jerkbait Rod Question
If I decided to go with a spinning setup would specs be the same? Fishing northern smallmouth in clear lakes so thinking of going with a spinning setup. Not sure if I need a new rod if I go this direction. The only rods I have under 7' are a bps carbonlite 6'6" mh/f rod with a president reel or a c...

Re: What line do you crank with?
I've tried so many lines for cranking. I've settled in with 20lbs braid with 6lbs diameter. So do you just go straight 20lb braid and no leader? no, I use flouro leaders up to 3' in length. surgeons knot to connect. the thin diameter braid cuts the water and gets additional depth out of the cranks....

Re: Trout Starter Set
very pretty.
those hard baits are all nice looking.
but if they aren't working, just throw a simple mepps or panther martin.
I'd be lying if I didn't admit I've caught 10+ trout on a spinner for every single trout I've caught on a hard minnow bait.
