Re: Daiwa cv-z platform reel spools compatibility question

The spool shaft lengths are different on cv-z and td-z even though spool diameters are the same. For a perfectly working mod you should check the original mod: http://forums.tackletour.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=39778 Or the "hyper speed mod" http://forums.tackletour.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=52643. Re: Daiwa cv-z platform reel spools compatibility question

They are all compatible.
Or, hmmm... Maybe the Ringa HL-SSS is incompatible with other spools due to a different spool axle diameter. Other than that it's all mix and match :)

Re: Monoblock or LIN 10??????

I own both type of reels but definately prefer the monoblock. The Lin10 looks awesome but in my opinion it feels just like another ryoga. Especially (and unfortunately since I own one) the "origin". The monoblock on the other hand has got some real magic in it. I just wish I could explain...

Re: Need help -- Spool shaft bearing pin got stuck

I just bought the SLP spool pin removal tool and it is totally awesome. No more risk of damaging the spool, as it is totally safe to work with as opposed to the different hedgehog versions. I have scratched the spool rim on at least two or three spools with the Type S and the V2 is very weak on thos...

Re: Daiwa 3D brake system

Am I the only one that find 3D far too strong?
I set my reels om "long cast" and move between 0.5-3 on both my Z2020 and FX68 with different both with original spools or with SV-spools in the FX. Does anyone use "max brake" and if so, when do you need it?

Re: Zonda 68 stock body bolt hex size?

Even though the hex key might be high precision, the screw might not. So my advice is to always use a piece of plastic bag of suiting thickness between the screw and the key. It will maximize the grip and minimize the scratching.

The AIR BFS bearing does help and are significantly better than Boca ceramics. You will be amazed!

Re: Ringa SSS vs Monoblock spool?

For heavier baits it does cast a bit further. I have not measured, but by impression on the water is that with aerodynamic baits >1oz you can expect a couple of extra meters. I wouldn't say the difference is mindblowing, but that may be because I love the characteristics of the monoblock spool. In m...

Re: SV 1000 spool question

It is the same, 5x11x4mm, as on most Daiwa reels.

Re: Monoblock-help needed

The Monoblock does not have an anti reverse pawl so no need to check for that. From my experience such intermittent noise under load usually comes from either the pinion, either of the two pinion bearings or the IAR. The inner pinion bearing is a PITA to change, so check the other parts first.

I have one in a 103 Baycasting Special. A really nice and quite fast spool.

It does have IAR/Super stopper. The pawl is there as backup.

Re: Maintenance of synchronised levelwind ABUs

You are right. Grease kills the casting performance. I use medium-light oil for the levelwind and light oil for the cogwheel.

Re: BFS spools: are tuning studios moving on?

The Megabass baitfinesse spools (IS and Zonda) have Hedgehog bearings on them. Not the better AIR with micro balls, but the ordinary one. I guess these spools and the honeycomb spools are made by Hedgehog Studio (or Avail, or I should say the same company/cooperation). Remember the Zonda Hedgehog C...
