2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
Is the CWS, carbon wrapping system, new from Daiwa?
edit: my '20 PG rod bag says T1100g, I always thought it was m40x, never read the tags attached to the bag lol

bass rods, cws are used in some racing designs and heartland ags. i dont know if it really adds anything to performance, i think traditional wraps look better. Most compile x rods are made in japan or assembled in japan with parts made in china however you wanna call it. At this point it doesnt matter to me where they are made, Daiwa rods made in their overseas plants are just as good. But seeing made in japan on your rod makes you sleep better at night, thats cool too.

I went to the Daiwa online catalog. I'll have to add a couple more lawns to my paper route ...
Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
This might trigger some but looks like compile-x rods are being put together in China now
Steez Fury i just got says blanks made in Japan, assembled in China just like new svf nano rods. I know they were made in japan when first released. So i won't be surprised if the RCs are made in China too. Oh well this makes no difference to me.

How does this rod fish? Anything like RD 7011HRB or the 610 Harrier?4g63power wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 9:18 pmThis might trigger some but looks like compile-x rods are being put together in China nowSteez Fury i just got says blanks made in Japan, assembled in China just like new svf nano rods. I do not own the RD jigga stick, Harrier 610 (i had 2017 Harrier before), don't think it's a fair comparison to those two since they are fast tip regular taper vs Fury is solid tip extra fast taper. As for Fury it's crisp, sharp and seems to pack a plenty of power although it fishes close to MH than H imo.

Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
Has anyone picked one of these up? I'm debating on getting the 6'8 MH spinning rod or waiting for the EG Spider Spin.

You and me both! I've got an EG Spin Cobra been using since 2007 for a variety of applications.HobeyBaker wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 5:41 amHas anyone picked one of these up? I'm debating on getting the 6'8 MH spinning rod or waiting for the EG Spider Spin.
Re: 2023 Steez “Real Control” Rods
I think the RC 68MH is just starting to fill pre-orders. Im not even sure if any consumers have them yet at this point. I’m in the same boat with those same two rods. Been a longtime EG and RD user and so far for me anyway, based on the digging I’ve done, I would give the slight edge to the RC rods over the EG.
I don’t really understand the omission of some of the next gen materials in the new EG spinning rod lineup when the new casting rods are leaning heavily toward M40X blends. Maybe there’s a surprise yet to come though. The Spider Spin is T1100G full tubular. I bet on the water they fish pretty similar but in the price ranges they’re talking… I honestly expected a little more blank evolution. The RC68MH is going to be significantly lighter in weight. The new EG 63L is 87 grams and I suspect the Spider Spin will fall between 100-110 grams…
…the RC68MH is 84 grams. 84! It’s lighter than the EG 63L so that tells me there’s a little more “magic” baked into the RC than Daiwa is divulging.
That’s my 2 cents. I think both will be spectacular rods and I’ll likely end up with both eventually anyway.

Anyone grab one of these yet and have some feedback on how they compare to the Racing Designs or Steez AGS?
