we are only allowed two rods per person up here, but when fishing solo, I've often wished for that third rod. Once I have a second in the boat, the four rods are enough.
mad respect running a six rod spread between two anglers, considering one of ya was controlling the boat.
hard work!
That Salmon is still pretty silver. The ones we caught recently were already pretty dark.

nice browns!
those must be lake run fish, not resident browns?
I'm guessing you are in the great lakes region?
Great fish!
Browns are my favourite Trout species (by far).

Hello Steve,
No. I would love to try US lake browns.
These are sea run browns from a danish stream. Jutland where I live - the part of Denmark that is connected to northern Germany - has many small and large streams with sea run trout (and a few salmon streams).

Amazing!
I didn't see your "location".
Those are beautiful fish!
Do you mind sharing how you caught them?

I will show you and other TT members the spot if/when you get near
I walk upstream and cast upstream.
Spinner (mostly mepps comet style size 2-3).
Spoons 3.5-5.0 gram.
Sinking minnows esp. Tiemco Laks 60s.
The two pictured were caught on a Mapso Ory spinner #3 (last weekend) and a Tiemco minnow (this morning), respectively.
If I walk downstream, I spook the fish in the very clear chalkstream water.
I only use baitcasting gear for stream fishing and it works great. I use spinning gear to catch the same trout in the sea, which is only 15 miles away or so… For inshore fishing I mainly use line through spoons around 15 gram - cast like a bullet…

thanks for that info!
sounds like how we target brook trout here (or native brown trout, but not many of those).
If I'm fishing a small stream a mepps #3 is my first go-to.
My family if from Finland. Next time there I'll jump on the ferry and join ya for some Trout!
Thanks again my friend and wish you all the success on your next outing.

Both of them were around or just below 8.5 lbs with a length 67 cm = 26.4 inches. If one looks bigger than the other it is due to camera angle. They were quite fat with a Fulton condition factor around 1.3.
My biggest from that stream have been 75 cm. They come in bigger sizes especially in other local and bigger streams.

I caught my PB Largemouth a couple weeks ago, just (but clearly) north of 10 pounds! There's a bit of a TackleTour-worthy story behind the trip: a week before, I'd broken my Zbone 733 on a hasty and ill-advised cast. I was on the kayak and I'd smashed that rod into... something behind me, I just didn't know what. But my suspicions were a Poison Glorious 1610M or an NRX 822 DSR. Not a good feeling to have! One high-end rod broken, another might be next! The PG fished fine for the rest of the day (caught a 2-pounder on a jerkbait). The NRX also seemed fine but I didn't get any bites on it. Hmm
Fast-forward to the day of this catch: less than 30 minutes in, my PG breaks on a hookset for a tiny LMB. Dammit! Well, mystery kinda solved, except that I stil didn't know if the NRX had also gotten damaged. At that point I was kinda done, even though it was early morning, and I was pondering leaving. But I stuck around, and figured that the only way to find out the status of the NRX was to hook into a fish on it!
So several hours later, in the heat of the late morning, I started drop-shotting. I just wanted to catch a fish to check the rod.
Instead I caught this guy. DS with 8lbs leader, tiny G-Finesse hook, so the drag on my Excense A was set quite loosely. I quickly knew that I had a big fish on, but with that drag I figured it was a 4-6 pounder. The fish didn't come up, either, and I only realized that I had a DD when it was almost in the net. Took 10-15 minutes of tiring her out while the drag was purring. Everything after that is a blur.
But I think my NRX is fine!
