It has been a joy, going to get a second one in red to match the 7.3 TWS (both have 7.3 gears). Most of my testing with that spool was with a full spool of 8lb fluoro and finesse lures. Now with a full spool of 30lb braid and regular sized topwaters the casting distance is absolutely ridiculous, VERY fast spool. The raspy sound and bearings have quietened up a bit too, very good upgrade and way to get above SV capability from a heavy duty Daiwa reel.LowRange wrote:That Ray's Long Cast spool for that platform is deeper than I would have thought. I didn't set out to get a purple rod/reel to fish a purple rat on, but I am pleased that it worked out that way.
Re: Post purple
That shoreluck looks sick. I have been curious bout those rods for a while but I don't do egg beaters. Is this a rod type MB still does or was it a limited thing only?LowRange wrote:Aquaftm45 wrote:A bit of purple.

I think you can still find them, I bought mine about a month or so ago from Japan Angler and looks to be the last one he had. I really love that combo. Only problem was, the two piece ferrels did not fit well upon arrival and I had to do some fine sanding to make them go together. Works amazing for long casting Vision 110jr's and X-80 jr's. Has the enough tip to do the job well.

The purple and gold reminds me of a Crown Royal bag!!!
Re: Post purple
I didn't realise they made an SLP variant of the Zillion TW SV. One of those with a deeper spool might be the ticket to replace the tat SV and keep that Hyuga matching Daiwa flavored purple.Polkfish1 wrote:

I have been wanting to get my hands on a NIB or Mint SLP Zillion Limited for some time. See them on the Japan Auction sites, but I have not mastered the method to that madness yet.Polkfish1 wrote:
It was easier to get my Battler from Austrailia than to fetch one of these gems.
Re: Post purple
Yeah, they do show up on the auctions. They had them on digitaka for quite a while. I wanted the ratio and am one of the few it seems that likes the zillion sv just fine. I hemmed and hawed thinking they'd be around and then when gone, of course I needed one. So I waited until one popped up on auction for the right price.Aquaftm45 wrote:I have been wanting to get my hands on a NIB or Mint SLP Zillion Limited for some time. Re: Purple Knobs
I have almost bought the purple version of this handle a dozen times, but I am never quite loaded enough to do it. One night the insomnia and beer is gonna push me over the edge into doing it.

The alcohol fueled ill advised tackle purchase. We've all been there.Houndfish wrote:Re: Purple Knobs

The finish is. Not anything the flat finish of the Zonda or IS reels. I use that reel a lot and it’s been good so far.Houndfish wrote:Rippin-lips wrote:That Ito is stunning, how well does that finsish hold up?
Lowrange, those are from Slp works. The deep purple from HH is pretty much the same color. Both match Daiwa factory purple rather well. You have to remember with anodizing that each run can be a few shades lighter or darker.
