What model of scale do you use to weigh these items? It would be interesting to see more added to the list. Such as, other Daiwa reels and to fill in some of the blanks, other brands, and maybe upgrade paths that others have had success with. By no means am I saying your list is bad I love it and I am definitely a nube at all of this and found this to be very helpful.

I used a kitchen scale by Taylor. Not super duper accurate, but good enough for jazz.

I am hoping to add some items this winter....just too busy right now. Someone else will have to "own" the Shimano or Abu stuff. I'm just not as versed in those brands.

ZPI Deep Spool for TDZ 103/105 10.15 g

ZPI Shallow Spool for TDZ 103/105 12.51 g

I think Good351 had these switched around. My shallow Zpi spool,RC-002-GP-T, weighs 10g w/bearing. I would also like to add the Pixy 68SPR spool @12 g w/bearing to the table. The scale that I used for weight is a Taylor " The Biggest Loser" food scale.

I think Good351 had these switched around. My shallow Zpi spool,RC-002-GP-T, weighs 10g w/bearing. I would also like to add the Pixy 68SPR spool @12 g w/bearing to the table. The scale that I used for weight is a Taylor " The Biggest Loser" food scale.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier.. I weighed my spools on a Mettler PM4600 Delta Range Balance. http://www.labextreme.com/detail.cfm?autonumber=59243 That "biggest looser" food scale is kind of a toy compared to this instrument.. In the past I've also weighed arrow points to match a set of arrows exactly.. Points coming from Easton are held to high weight tolerances..my numbers have always jived with what Easton said they were supposed to be.

I weighed several other spools as well (Sol and Presso) and I got the same numbers that were already in the table..Didn't see a need to report them. The deep version of the ZPI is lighter for sure..I can feel that comparing them in hand..

It makes sense that the deep spool is lighter as it has less material to make the arbor. Where the shallow spool makes up the difference is when line is on the spool. This, of course, assumes an equal wall thickness and material density.
