Daiwa Reel Issues

Post by breamtim » Tue Apr 21, 2020 2:37 am

Hi all

Having some troubles with changing the handles/drag stars on my Daiwas. I have noticed that on my Alphas which has an SLP drag star but stock swept handle, and TD Ito which has the stock star but aftermarket straight handle, the more the drag is tightened the looser the handle becomes, so it is not possible to have a tight handle and a range of drag pressures if that makes sense. The problem is fixed on the Alphas and i presume the Ito with the stock star and handle but I prefer the look of the aftermarket parts.

Has anyone had any issues with this before? Am I missing a washer somewhere? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Tim

You have to have the draft star tightened down enough before you put the handle on that the handle bottoms out on the washer and step in the driveshaft and not against the drag star. Does that make sense...?

Sounds like you might need to add an additional washer behind the drag star.
