I am right hand dominate and use right hand BC reels. I don't really know why other than the fact that I learned that way. Maybe I should try a left hand reel because it does make more sense that way.

not worth it for Shimano (tooling costs apparently) to make left handed reels in all their models?

I guess this site is not indicative of Shimano's target market.....

I'm a lefty who throws right and reels left:). I'm from Germany and here it is common to throw right and reel left. But my first reel was left handle because there was nothing else available so I learned to cast with the wrong hand. I cast quite well with my off hand, maybe I should learn to cast with my dominant hand too to have an advantage in heavy covered small streams.

I began fishing with casting reels in the '50s and never liked having to switch hands to reel.

Fwiw, my father was also righthanded, but batted lefty and golfed lefty.

When I played golf I used righthanded clubs, but putted from the left usually.
