My bids seem to keep getting bid up on Ebay for my favourite topwater.
Either they are becoming collectable, or other folks are realizing how deadly they are.

My vote is for propeller baits. There is not such a thing as a giant Peacock Bass explosion in a Rip Roller!!!

As an avid top water collector (all get used), I think I can finally say that I've found an absolute favorite.
Luxxe Avenge Prop 80
Shares some characteristics with the Whopper Plopper, but so much better, way more versatile. I can fish it like a popper, walk it, run and stop it, fish it slow, or just straight up burn it. Creates the perfect amount of disturbance, can be subtle or obnoxious. Casts like a rock, yet can feel a bit finesse in nature. I highly encourage you to grab one and take it for a spin.

Really enjoy my Ima Helips. Used to buy 1 or 2 nice topwater baits every TW order to slowly build my collection. They stopped carrying the Helips for some reason.

Definitely a popper for me. These last couple years have been lights out with a Lobina Rico and Rio Rico. The fry color is my favorite. The bass in my home lake love this color and it outproduces all the other colors I’ve used.
Re: Favorite type of topwater bait?
My favorite *type* of topwater is a walk the dog style. My single favorite topwater bait, on the other hand, is this…
Re: Favorite type of topwater bait?
Evenings/night a plop bait like the whopper plopper or the choppo. For the day, walking baits.

Cannot beat a lobina Rico or iovino splash it. Both get bit incredibly well and surprisingly can walk side to side well with a smaller walking motion. I use these as finesse walking baits when the fish boil on shad. Versatile bait since it can be used as a finesse popper or finesse walking bait
Re: Favorite type of topwater bait?
I agree across the board! One other thing the Rico excels at is being popped extremely rapidly. That technique — popping ~8-12 times as quickly as humanly possible, pausing for a second or two, and repeating — has caught me thousands of bass. Somehow the Rico never gets fouled using that retrieve, while most others foul the line a significant portion of the time.Senkobass1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 3:43 pm

I vote rats. Just because I don’t tournament fish, and it’s a crazy fun time to throw them.
Re: Favorite type of topwater bait?
My favorite bite of the year is the wake/super shallow crank bite, but for river smallies, give me a walking bait. I've grown really fond of the Giant Dog X.
